Hi, I'm Moni
A little bit about me ...
I started my dog grooming adventures over 10 years ago, when I decided to groom the most handsome boy in the world, Neo, my adorable cavoodle. I'm a hairdresser by trade, so I thought, why not, let's give it a go! After that, I was hooked. I fell in love with grooming.
It wasn't long before I knew I just had to commit to the grooming life! I knew I had to start at the bottom, and got to work honing my grooming craft. My first job was at Paws in the City, where I started off as a dog bather! Over time, I progressed into a junior groomer role; where I took every opportunity to learn more specialised grooming techniques. I spent four weeks completing specialist training at the amazing Angel's Grooming Academy in Auckland, and attended a number of fantastic grooming seminars.

I built up a small cliental over the next five years working from home, but I missed working alongside other groomers. My friend and follow groomer, Karen from Scruffy2Fluffy, needed an extra pair of hands, and I jumped at the chance to help. After a short period, and with Karen's wonderful support, I launched my own grooming business, "The Groomery", sharing the same premises as Scruffy2Fluffy.

From The Groomery to Bijou ...
Fast forward to mid 2022, and due to an injury and subsequent multiple surgeries, my body (and my doctor) told me I needed to rest and repair. Sadly, "The Groomery" books were closed to new clients, and I cut back my grooming to just a few dogs from my home, as I recovered.

So, here I am, ready to re-ignite my grooming passion! I've launched my new grooming business: 'Bijou' (during my time away from the salon, a different 'The Groomery' has opened for business in Upper Hutt).

Why Bijou? As I recover, I can only groom small dogs, who must be under 10kgs. I'd love to accommodate bigger sizes, but right now, I'm under strict orders to be very careful of my body's limits. So, (for once) I'm doing as I'm told!

Look forward to seeing everyone, and your adorable fur babies soon!
